Posts Tagged ‘time frames and major arcana’
Generally, if you ask when something is going to happen and you get a major arcana card. The answer will be that the event will occur in a few months.
But wait, there’s more! Many of the majors correspond to astrological signs. This is also a clue to the time frame. If you draw the Fool card when asking a time frame, the answer would be sometime between late March and late April. Why? Because in many schools of thought, the Fool card is associated with Aries. There is always the possibility that the answer could also be that the event will occur within a few months.
The following are the astrological correlations:
The Fool – Aries – March 21 (Spring/Vernal Equinox) – Ruled by Mars
The Hierophant – Taurus – April 21 – Ruled by ? possibly any 3 of the air signs.
The Lovers – Gemini – May 21 – Ruled by Venus
The Moon – Cancer – June 22 (Summer Solstice) – Ruled by the moon
The Sun – Leo – July 23rd – Ruled by the sun
The Hermit – Virgo – August 23rd – Ruled by Mercury
Justice – Libra – September 23rd – Ruled by Venus (Autumnal Equinox)
Emperor – Scorpio – October 22nd – Ruled by Aries
The Chariot – Sagittarius – November 22nd – Ruled by Jupiter
The Devil – Capricorn – December 22nd – Ruled by Saturn (Winter Solstice)
The Star – Aquarius – January 21st – Ruled by Saturn and Uranus
The Hanged Man – Pisces – February 20th – Ruled by Neptune
Additional information for you to compare:
There are other correlations, which I’m not so agreed upon because the tarot cards do not have the general qualities of the astrological sign with which they’ve been correlated. This link will provide you with more information. http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=45582 An example of why I don’t agree with these correlations is that they state Taurus and the Lovers go together. Lovers concerns two people, choices between at least two options, duplicity all of which fit in more with Gemini.
Symbols can represent astrological entities:
wands are the symbol for fire signs
swords are the symbol for air signs
pentacles are the symbol for earth signs
cups are the symbol for water signs
water is the symbol for water sings
air/clouds are the symbol for air signs
lions are leos
two people are gemini
scorpions are scorpions
phoenix is also scorpio
So if you see any of those symbols you could conclude the properties relating to the astrological signs may be pertinent.
To complicate matters – wands can indicate summertime(rather than the fire sign dates listed abobe), swords can indicate winter, pentacles can indicate autumn, and cups can indicate spring. You have to take a look at all the cards to try to help you get the time frame.
Interesting point: The Magician card has symbols for all four of the zodiacal elements, air – fire – water – earth. So does the Wheel of Fortune Card(although not as easily seen). We will go into those later.
The Fool’s Journey and the Zodiac:
Remember that the major arcana depict the Fool’s Journey. It is the spirit returned to human form and starting and journeying on life’s path. The zodiac is the same, when viewed in terms of reincarnation. The first sign we are all born under is Aries. We live and learn and then we die. We come back as a Taurus with knowledge of the Aries in our subconcious memory. The cycle continues through the zodiac until you reach Pisces. The Pisces is the old, wise, sensitive soul…these people are born wise. As well they should be having lived at least 11 prior lives.
